Students often struggle in higher classes because an earlier concept was never fully understood. Strengthening fundamentals in Classes 8–10 is therefore less about studying everything again and more about identifying weak building blocks and practising them consistently.

For Maths: understand the method

When solving a problem, students should be able to explain which concept they are using and why. After solving an example, change the numbers or conditions and try a similar problem independently.

For Science: connect ideas

Science becomes easier when students connect definitions, processes, diagrams, observations and applications. Try explaining a topic in simple language before learning a long written answer.

Use the three-step practice cycle

  1. Learn: understand the concept with a worked example.
  2. Practise: solve questions without looking at the solution.
  3. Review: record mistakes and revisit the difficult point.

Don't allow doubts to accumulate

Keep a running doubt list and clear it regularly. One unresolved concept can affect several later chapters, especially in Maths and Science.

Use weekly revision

Set aside one session every week for older chapters. Short, repeated revision is usually easier to maintain than a large revision block just before examinations.
